Meet of Champs Update

Last night we had our Meet of Champs Spaghetti Dinner and got the "scoop" on the meet.

Vivian will swim freestyle relay and freestyle.

Emma Grace will swim medley relay, freestyle, backstroke and freestyle relay.

Friday we practice at Katy High School to get familiar with the pool.

Saturday morning is the preliminary for 10&under. Warm up begins at 8am with the meet starting around 9 or 9:15. Viv's freestyle relay and Emma's medley relay will be first. This will go quickly, as there is only one heat of each age group and gender (6&under, 7&8, 9&10). Immediately following the relays will be freestyle (my guess, between 9:15 and 9:30 if the meet starts at 9) with several heats of each age group and gender. Vivian will not swim again after her individual freestyle.

After freestyle is breaststroke, and then Emma swims backstroke. After that is butterfly, and then Emma will swim in her freestyle relay.

We should be finished around noon. Top eight finishers in individual events on Saturday will swim again in the finals on Sunday. ALL relays swim again on Sunday.

Sunday is the finals for all age groups. Both girls will swim again on Sunday, because both are on relays. Warm up begins at 11am. The meet begins at noon. Order of events will be slightly different from Saturday. 13&up individual medley is first (4 heats total), then Vivian's freestyle relay and Emma's medley relay. IF we qualify for individual events, then those are next (freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke, butterfly), and then Emma's freestyle relay is at the end. If we don't qualify in individual events, then we have a long wait until Emma's last relay.


Both girls are really excited and are looking forward to the meet. This will be quite different from our neighborhood dual meets. All 7 teams from our division will be there, so there will be more people and noise and waiting involved. A whole different scale. We'll see what they think after practice this afternoon.
