Hurricane Ike Update: 4:00 p.m.

Still waiting. Not much has happened here since the last update. Gray clouds, occasional sun, breezy and 90 degrees. The hurricane is now about 90 miles from Galveston. The Strand is currently about 4 ft. under water. Many other low-lying areas are flooding. And the rain hasn't even started yet.

Tropical storm force winds should be here around 10 p.m., and hurricane force winds around 2 a.m. Winds will weaken by 8 a.m. and be back to breezy by 3 p.m.

Since the last update, Emma decided that Princess needed to go to the dog park, so she and I headed over there for about an hour. Princess had a great time. There were several other people there with their dogs. One couple had 3 poodles -- one toy (an M name), one miniature (Murry), and one standard (Jake). We came back home when we felt some rain droplets, but it has still not started raining here.

Traffic was light to moderate for mid-afternoon -- certainly more than I expected. Gas prices have gone up 10 cents in less than 24 hours.

Here are some pictures from the dog park:
