Vivian played her first soccer game today. In fact, we just got home.
She...was...AWESOME! She has great natural instincts - especially on defense. Personally I think her best play was when the ball was inside the goal box, players bunched all around, and she had the presence of mind to kick the ball off the side of her foot and clear it out. That was all instinct.
At the end of the day, though, they lost by one goal. It was a tough, hard fought game, but she had a HUGE smile on her face as she came off the field.
Oh, and she would want me to tell you that one time the ball hit her right in the stomach. It hurt, but she took it for the team. Also she got to be team captain today.
So here are some action shots, one chillin' on the sideline, a shot of her as captain, and a cute pic of Emma and Cliff after the game.

Dad and I have never thought either of the girls looked much like either of their parents--they just had looks of their own(and very lovely ones). But when Dad saw the two pictures of Vivian where she's looking down, he called me in to have a look, asking, "Who does this look like to you?" My immediate response was, "Courtney!" The resemblance is uncanny in those two photos. We both had a very pleasant time remembering our own little "Braid Lady."
And congratulations to Viv for such a dynamite performance. I can hardly wait to see her in action on October 11.
